Mirror Mirror Evil Queen inspired nails

So...I used that apple nail...then tried a little something to look like the front of her dress...was not that pleased with the outcome.

So then I went with this:

I think it looks much more like the peacock feather design on Julia's dress, don't you?

I used as my base, OPI Comet Loves Cupid...then just a white striper...and a little silver striper!!!

Mirror Mirror Evil Queen

My next inspiration

So hopefully you checked out my inspiration photo in my last post.  I used Pink Friday as my base for the pink nails and Alpine snow for the white nail.

I then used various greens and blues for the flowers.  Then various reds and browns for the apple.

So here we have my interpretation of Mirror Mirror Snow White!

Going with some friends to see it tomorrow night...then will probably have to do UK nails!!!

Have a good weekend everybody!

Tan french with red striping and brown leopard accent

Something red or brown for tomorrow.  So...a tan french with red striping.  Then added a little brown leopard accent nail.  Having fun practicing...any suggestions?

24/7 with white lace

Every girl...needs to try out hot pink once in a while.
After my second viewing of Hunger Games...I needed a little neon pink with girly lace:

Getting better at picking up the stamped image...need to work on placing it on the nail equally!

Try out hot pink...it can be fun and springy once in a while!

Magnetic Polish: House of Parliament

Well...it was a busy weekend.  Spent scrapbooking and shopping and of course, Hunger Games.
If you haven't seen it yet...go...it's AWESOME!

But...I did not have a lot of nail time this weekend...so...
tonight.

I used Nails Inc Magnetic Polish in the color called: House of Parliament!

If you haven't tried a magnetic polish...they are pretty neat to work with.  Very easy...just paint your nail..then use the magnet cap...to have the design show up!

They are great for something a little funky.  Well this week...is Mirror Mirror and the Roller Derby...so expect some fun stuff.

Hunger Games

China Glaze...gave me all the pieces to this gorgeous FIRE design.

I started with just a plain black...I used NYC Black Lace on all my fingers.

Then I used China Glaze Hunger Games Collection in Riveting with sponging on the bottom of the nail.
Then I put the China Glaze Hunger Games Collection in Luxe & Lush on for the FIRE sparks...isn't it gorgeous!!!

So then...I wanted to try something more Hunger Games specific for my right (non-dominant hand).

I went out to Youtube and caught a video about Hunger Games by :I Have a Cupcake

So...I used China Glaze Hunger Games Collection in Hook and Line for my grey designs with a dotting tool.  Then I used white and yellow stripers to paint on the emblem.  A little more fire...my pointer!!!

And the masterpiece...if slightly out of focus...darn camera:

So I am ready...have my Hunger games shirts...nails...makeup on...and even a braid!!!

My friend Denise is going to do the Dutch braid for me that Katniss wears as soon as we get off work and before we head to the Rave Dine-In in Florence.  Can you say..."Girl's Night"?

May the odds be ever in your favour

Angry Birds Space

So...Tigers Be Still was hilarious and I definitely recommend it for people to go see at Playhouse in the Park.  So...since I went to the play...I didn't have a lot of time for my nails, and we all know when you rush...you have mistakes!

But...the galaxy portions turned out gorgeous, just ignore the dry skin...I hadn't put on my cuticle oil yet.

I must give tribute to the Youtube video by CutePolish that I used for the galaxies!!!

Check out her video tutorial: cutepolish Youtube Tutorial for Galaxy Nails

I started with OPI Black Onyx on all the nails...then I used a cosmetic sponge...to sponge on OPI Russian Navy, OPI Blue My Mind, OPI Sahara Sapphire...these all gave a blue tint.. Then I sponged on Spoiled's Deeper Dive...for some teal sparkle...then China Glaze Ultimate Holiday for the gold.  Then I finished each nail off with China Glaze Fairy Dust....I think they came out gorgeous.

So...I picked the ring nail...on my right hand...to try to paint on the angry bird...FAIL...I didn't wait long enough for it to dry...because I was rushing...so I took the galaxy mess off that nail.  Then I just painted it white...and tried to do the Angry Bird (Yellow Bird) on it.  Score...great job...but then wait for it. EPIC FAIL...I didn't wait long enough for it to dry...and smudged it up with my top coat.

So...slow it down...once in a while...that's my new motto.  But the galaxies are awesome...and the bird was cute...and if you don't do a close up of it...Yellow bird is pretty cute!

Stay tuned...Hunger Games design tonight...going to probably attempt the flames drag technique with a pin!!!

Tigers Be Still

So...I guess it isn't going to be movie week. My friend, Heather invited me to go to the Playhouse in the Park with her tomorrow night...and see "Tigers Be Still".

So I needed something fitting for the occasion.

Check out this tutorial by TotallyCool Nails: http://www.youtube.com/user/TotallyCoolNails

Using OPI In My Back Pocket for the orange and just a black striper. With OPI Bubble bath as my base for the french over OPI Nail Envy and OPI natural nail base coat

So here is my output:

I think this was a success...have a great Wednesday!!!

Whitening Treatment DIY and Movie Week: Transformers

So...I promised to show you before and after attempts at DIYNail Whitening.

So...I mixed up a bowl of the scrub...1 part lemon juice...2 parts baking soda:

My nails before:

So I applied the treatment...and wasn't that happy with the results...so then I scrubbed the nails with some hydrogen peroxide.

I was much happier with the results after a scrub with hydrogen peroxide.

So..then I wanted to start out this week...and make it Movie week.

So...for our first day of movie week:

I started by using the new China Glaze Hunger Games color: Stone Cold...then I got out my QA4 plate...and did silver stamping .

As a topcoat...I didn't want to use a glossy coat...so I used my new Nails Inc Westminster Bridge...which is a clear matte.

The final look...I think works great...for Transformers!

I'm so excited about Hunger Games coming out Friday...so expect a nail design this week for that...but before I get to Friday's Hunger Games design...what should I do tonight?

Natural Talent French with Cheeky Stamping dotted line

Well thank you all....for being patient over the weekend.  Spent the weekend with both my kids and so I was far too busy...to do my nails.  On Saturday night about midnight...I was up going to work on my nails...but changed my mind when my husband reminded me the 6 year old would be awake by 8am.
Fortunately...the little guy did sleep in until 9am...can you believe it?

Well...he was pretty exhausted and fell asleep on the couch on Saturday night...at 11:30 watching "The Adventures of TinTin".

So...last night...didn't have much time either...it was time to clean and do laundry to get ready for the week.  Husband mowed the lawn and we put our window A/C units in for this week's 80 degree temperatures.

So...I just put on some natural talent...and then ran a Cheeky stamp across each of my fingers. It was enough to get me through a day...but expect something fabulous tonight!!!

But first...I'll need to get some lemon juice and baking soda...to scrub at my yellowing nails.

Yup it seems that all these dark colors, especially the green polishes...have started to turn my nails a little yellow.  So I'm going to mix 1 tbsp of lemon juice with 2 tbsp of baking soda and scrub my nails tonight.  I'll take a picture of the natural nail before and after to show you if it works!

Have a great Monday!

4 Leaf Clovers

Started with Sally Hansen Limestone...then used my dotting tool with Sally Hansen Hard Cash...for the 4 leaf Clovers.  May the luck of the Irish be with you!

Grass Slipper with green foil line

Green week continues...something simple today.

A little Sally Hansen Grass Slipper with a line of green foil.

Now I really like the look...but one of my corners peeled up...and then I couldn't take it...I'd peeled it all off.  So today...it's actually ended up just being Grass Slipper...still green!

Check in tomorrow...to see what I do...for work's Town Hall Irish style!

OPI Jasper Jade with Gold stamping for RA plate

Hello...well today has already been hectic.

But last night...I pulled out a VERY, VERY OLD Opi nail polish. Jasper Jade...
It's such a gorgeous deep color...but I wanted to try some nail art with it...so pulled out my Red Angel plates...and did some gold stamping.

So there it is...another day in Green Week....what will I do next?

Any suggestions?

Gold with Four Leave clover accents and Green Glitter

So Istarted with Essie shifting power...then used Spoiled by Wet n Wild the color is called Permission to Proceed to draw the four leaf clover.

Then I put on these Sinful Colors Call you Later glitter on the non-accented nails.

It just seemed blah....

So I added some OPI Fresh Frog of Bel-Air!!!

And there we go...a rhinestone in the center of each four leaf clover...

Green and white marbling attempt

So I attempted marbling again...I can't call it an EPIC FAIL, but  I didn't like it either.

So the last time I tried it...it did not work well...did not move fast enough to keep the polish from hardening.  But this attempt...did it fast enough...just did not like the designs.  So...now I will need to work on making the patterns smaller so that I like the final look.

I started with these polishes:
with water:

I've got to tell you...it sure makes a mess of the cup!!!

So the night started like this!!!

So...I'll try again...but it wasn't good enough to wear today!

Who the Shrek Are You with M4 Stamping in Black and some Green Ocean Glitter

This weekend was definitely busy.  I didn't have much time for nail art.  So...tonight I've taken most of the night and done the work.

I started with a base coat of course...then on to OPI Who the Shrek Are you....I then put some Sinful Colors Call you later green glitter on.  Then a little fast dry top coat. Gave that a few minutes.  Then some stamping in black using Konad M4 plate....then topped it off with Sinful Colors Green Ocean.
A fun little green look for my green week...with 2 coats of top coat to finish.  The Green Ocean is a pretty cool glitter...the glitter is holographic in different lights.

Hope you all had a fun week and are ready to get back to the grindstone!

A-England Avalon with Fairy Dust

Well...I did all kinds of chores last night around the house. My mother in law will be up for her grandson's birthday(my husband's nephew) so I needed to wash some bedding and clean up around the joint. You know...prep for the descension of the mother in law and her white glove. Just kidding...in my house...it wouldn't be white for long!

So...I originally was going to do some stamping...and I did white french tips first...with Rimmel Pro Line in white...and FingerPaints Natural Talent...but none of the Konad black special polish was going well...
Since it was getting late...I went ahead and threw on this gorgeous A-England Avalon...which I had yet to try.
Boy is it gorgeous...then to make it a little fun...I put on China Glaze Fairy Dust.  Look at that sparkle...from the holo flecks!!!

So...in between laundry loads and cleaning the toilets...I also swatched my new China Glaze Hunger Games polishes and some other China Glaze colors...here is my swatching!!!

They are definitely the coolest colors...expect more swatching in the near future...as I try to get a handle on all the polish colors that I own!!!

China Glaze Kinetic Candy with RA110 stamped in China Glaze Aquadelic

Needed something a little fun to brighten up a rainy day.  Weather forecasters did not disappoint...it is definitely raining.  So I used China Glaze Kinetic candy....then using my new Red Angel stamp RA110...I stamped in China Glaze Kinetic Candy.  It is really cute and fun...looks like little bubbles on my nails.

Have a fun Thursday everybody...I'm just waiting for Big Bang Theory tonight...love me some Sheldon!

Suzi says Da with Cheeky stamping in Glamour Game

So here was Wednesday's polish...OPI Suzi Says Da with stamping from Cheeky CH7 plate using Glamour game.  This was gorgeous and will likely become one of my common fall backs!

The Suzi Says Da is a nice opace brown...and the Glamour game showed up so well as a mixture of Silver and Gold!  Tons of compliments and went with tan slacks and a solid brown shirt well for business casual day at work!

Revlon Whimsical and Popular

So...since the Pink friday with Scandalous tips failed so miserably..I needed something quick to wear the next day.

So above is Revlon Whimsical 430....which has the pink and blue glitter...but it wasn't enough...so I topped that with Revlon Popular 230.

It was a cute polish...but tricky to get off...had to use the foil wrap trick.  If you don't know what that is...you put cotton balls soaked in polish remover on your nails...and then wrap them in foil to keep the remover from evaporating.

Sorry about the delay in reporting I was having problems with the photo website flickr.  But all is well...and I will be catching up now.

Pink Friday with french tips in Revlon Scandalous

Please ignore the fuzzy on my middle finger there...they always seem to show up after I've taken the picture!

This was a little attempt at a french tip...and they came out great.  But then my devoted husband wanted homemade BLT sandwiches...and for some reason...the tips on my left hand smudged.

So...this manicure only lasted an hour before I tried something else.

Llamasqua Load

Well here it is...LOAD!  Just had to get it after I heard the name...now my best bud and I want to get Taint!

This actually went on kind of streaky and this is three coats with a base coat and top coat.  Going to try it on a white base next time and see if that helps!

You can really see the streaks in the second photo!

Mail delivery: Julep February 2012 It Girl

Well...it is definitely the best day when you come home to a Julep delivery.  It was exciting to open that box.

I worked some magic on this one:

So...I opened the package...the inside packing is just gorgeous!

Then to open it...and see these gorgeous colors:

The gorgeous mauve color is called Charlotte.  Then that white holo...is Melissa.
But the red...the red caught my eye...it is Jodie.

So...I pulled out my Cheeky set and used CH15 with a gorgeous silver shimmer called OPI Designer De Better to make this:

The shimmer is gorgeous in all lights...and the heart design is just cute...so until tomorrow dear friends....paint on!
